Neighborhood Trick or Treat Times – October 31st – 6pm to 8pm

The Riverside HOA is planning to have the trick or treat time between 6 and 8 pm on October 31st. We hope everyone has a wonderful Halloween and please be careful to drive slowly through the neighborhood on that evening as there will be lots of children out for this event.

 
2017 Board & Annual Meeting Dates
May 16, 2017

The Riverside Villages HOA Board meeting dates set for 2017 are as follows:
Special Meeting – February 16th – 6:30pm
June 8th – 6:30pm 
September 14th – 6:30pm
November 16th – 6:30pm

November 1st – Annual Meeting – 7:000pm

Board and Annual Meetings will be held at the Bedington Ruritan. Please come out and join us.

Inspection Reminders – 2017
April 21, 2017

During a recent neighborhood walk through inspection a few items were obvious that need some attention in order to maintain our Community’s pleasant appearance as well as increase our property values.

Coventry Group has been tasked with periodic inspections at which point Violation letters will be sent out. This is just a friendly reminder.

The main items to focus on are:

  • Trash cans need to be out of view except for days of pick-up.
  • Lawns need to be mowed and front yards must be kept uncluttered and well maintained, including shrubs and bushes.
  • If you are planning major work including decks and/or fences or painting, please be sure to complete and submit the ARC form found under Documents/Architectural Change Request Form.
  • No boats, trailers or recreational vehicles are to be parked or stored on the premises.  If they are kept in your garage out of sight this is acceptable.
  • Please clean up after your pets in your yard and all common areas. Leash laws need to be followed.
  • Park only in designated parking spots.  In the single family homes this includes street parking, but be mindful not to block the mailboxes or mail will not be delivered.  In the town homes sections avoid taking up more than one open space.  Utilize your garage and driveway. Overflow parking can be utilized on Halfway Blvd.

February 16th – Special Meeting Update
March 3, 2017

The Riverside Villages HOA met on February 16th at the Beddington Ruritan for a special meeting concerning the potential use of the common area and whether or not the association should pay for the placement of an amentity for the HOA members.  There was a turnout of about 15 members and the opinions varied considerably, but most either felt the association should look into playground equipment or not spend HOA money on an amenity at all and save this for future costs or put into other needed landscaping improvements.  It was determined that there was not enough member input for the board to make any decisions at this time.  The board of directors with the members input decided that a survey should go out to the community to gain greater input on this matter.  This will happen as soon as clearer numbers can be established for the improvements which the members want to see regarding any changes that may be made.

Thanks to all who came out to support the HOA on the 16th and give input to the Board of Directors.

HOA Inspection Basics

Please note that there are a few consistent HOA regulations that tend to dominate the HOA inspections and they are often very simple to resolve.

  1. Trash cans.  Trash containers are only allowed out front on trash pickup days only.  Otherwise trash cans need to be kept in your garage or in the rear/back of your home as much out of site as possible.  No trash should be left out in bags so as to prevent attracting animals and becoming an eye-sore.
  2. Yard Maintenance.  Yards need to be kept mowed and trimmed consistently during the growing seasons and the landscape beds should be free of weeds and not allowed to become unkempt. Please also prune/trim your bushes and plants in the front and do not let them overwhelm the entrances to the home.
  3. Pets. Dogs and cats are not allowed to roam free and owners need to pick up all pet waste immediately.  Pet waste on the common areas is problematic and can transmit disease.  If your children are tasked with walking your pet, make sure they are picking up the waste as needed.
  4. Boats and Trailers – Unfortunately all boats, trailers, mobile homes and other larger commercial vehicles are prohibited in the community. (this it not the complete list, but hits most) If they are kept in your garage out of sight this is no problem.

Keeping the Neighborhood Looking Great

Please make sure to keep your yards mowed and trimmed/edged weekly or as needed with the weather conditions.  If you need individual lawn care for your lawn you can contact the landscaping company directly to set up an agreement with them to service your lawn.  The current landscaper is Simply Divine Lawn Care – David Flook and the number is 240-625-3542.  If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact Mark with Coventry Group.

 
Exterior Changes or Additions
June 18, 2015

If you are considering any exterior changes to your home you should fill in the Architectural Request Form also found on the documents tab of this site.  Fill this form in and add any supporting documentation that will allow the HOA to determine whether this change is within the guidelines and can be approved.  You can scan this in and email to mark@coventrygrp.com You may also send this form into the office at Riverside Villages HOA, Inc. c/o Coventry Group P.O. Box 2580, Winchester, VA 22604.  Please do not begin any work until you receive an approval from the HOA. The HOA Handbook (also found on the documents tab) is a good starting place to determine whether a request falls within the expectations/existing guidelines of the HOA.  Exterior Changes include but are not limited to decks, fences, porches, patios, sheds and play sets.  If you are not sure, please contact Mark directly and discuss the application with him before you start.

 
If Power goes out to your home…

Please contact Potomac Edison directly if power goes out to your home.  This is the fastest way to help them become aware of the problem when it arises.  It helps to have your Potomac Edison Account number handy when you contact them… this is on your billing statement.
